Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen

practising Lama’i Naljor

Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen are practising the Lama’i Naljor of MagÇig Labdrön at an apprentice retreat in North Wales. This is an important and inspiring practice for Aro Lineage practitioners. The transmission for the practice was given to Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen by Kyabjé Chhi’mèd Rig’dzin Rinpoche. The Lama’i Naljor was given by MagÇig Labdrön to her son, a previous incarnation of Kyabjé Chhi’mèd Rig’dzin Rinpoche, and he said that he could still remember the sound of her voice singing it to him as transmission. The Lama’i Naljor also forms part of a practice of gÇod.

A gÇod damaru and bell are used for this practice. Here the skins of Ngak’chang Rinpoche and Khandro Déchen’s gÇod damarus have been died blue. They are often died green also. Blue is symbolic of spaciousness and green of unobstructed energy.
