Ngakma Nordzin and Daniel with Chhi’mèd Rig’dzin

Ngakma Nordzin and Daniel with Kyabjé Chhi’mèd Rig’dzin Rinpoche

a lively gathering

In the first quarter of 1988 the practitioners in Cardiff were honoured to be involved in the visit of Kyabjé Chhi’mèd Rig’dzin Rinpoche. He stayed with Ngak’chang Rinpoche for a week or more and gave teachings and several empowerments. The students of Ngak’chang Rinpoche at that time were fortunate to have the rare opportunity to spend time with Kyabjé Chhi’mèd Rig’dzin Rinpoche in a relaxed and informal manner. This picture was taken on the day that Ngakma Nor’dzin introduced her baby son, Daniel (aged 13 as of 2000) to Kyabjé Chhi’mèd Rig’dzin Rinpoche.

Ngakma Nor’dzin remembers, Kyabjé Chhi’mèd Rig’dzin Rinpoche took Daniel’s hand, and spoke very gently to him.

Later in the week, Kyabjé Chhi’mèd Rig’dzin Rinpoche accepted an invitation to share a meal with Ngakma Nor’dzin and Ngakpa ’ö-Dzin at their home. After the meal, Ngakma Nor’dzin attempted to settle Daniel, but he would not stop crying. Quite a large number of people arrived in Cardiff with Kyabjé Chhi’mèd Rig’dzin Rinpoche, so it was a fairly lively gathering taking place in their lounge. At that time Daniel’s bedroom was next to the lounge and the good humoured conversation and laughter was unfortunately preventing him from going to sleep. Ngakma Nor’dzin did not expect that anyone would have noticed that she kept going out to try and settle Daniel, but when getting up for about the fifth time, Kyabjé Chhi’mèd Rig’dzin Rinpoche indicated to her that she should sit down. Within moments Daniel was quiet and when checked a few minutes later, was found to be peacefully fast asleep.

This was the second time that Kyabjé Chhi’mèd Rig’dzin Rinpoche had visited Ngak’chang Rinpoche in Cardiff and Ngakma Nor’dzin and Ngakpa ’ö-Dzin feel most fortunate that they were able to be present on both occasions. During Kyabjé Chhi’mèd Rig’dzin Rinpoche’s first visit, they went on an expedition to share a picnic on a beach about twenty miles away from Cardiff. On this day, Ngakma Nor’dzin and Ngakpa ’ö-Dzin witnessed his manipulation of the elements by stopping the torrential rain so that they were able to have their picnic.

Daniel was able to meet Kyabjé Chhi’mèd Rig’dzin Rinpoche again in May this year. Ngakma Nor’dzin and Ngakpa ’ö-Dzin, along with their younger son, Richard, attended a day of teachings in Oxford, and were delighted to be able to offer their respects to him.
