Namkha

conjuring with the warp and weft of the elements

Each diamond-shaped section of a namkha is called a ‘sky’. The elements are woven in the order of earth, water, fire, air and space to decrease the element. The sky begins with the element to be worked upon, starting with that colour in the centre of the sky. To increase the element the colours are woven from the centre in the opposite order. Earth is yellow, water is white, fire is red, air is green and space is blue.
